The Bono Regional Minister, Hon Justina Owusu Banahene has advised drivers to be extremely patient on our roads to help reduce road accidents to the nearest minimum throughout the Xmas season and beyond.
She was speaking at the official launch of the 2021 ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN held on Tuesday, December 14, at the main lorry park in Berekum in the Bono Region.
The occasion which brought together all the stakeholders in the transport industry was on the theme ‘STAY ALIVE’.
The Minister stated that road accidents were depriving the country of skilled persons and resources hence the need for drivers to maintain discipline on our roads to prevent accidents.
She entreated drivers to uphold the word patience as the keyword anytime they sit behind the steering wheel.
She further spoke against drunk driving, drug use, fatigue, overspeeding, non-compliance of road signs and regulations, overloading, non-maintenance of vehicles, and the use of inferior spare parts as a few of the causes of road accidents.
The Minister advised drivers to stay away from these acts and help save and preserve lives.
To passengers, she admonished them to speak up against drivers who engage in unlawful acts.
