The Majority Leader of Parliament Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has said there is no constitutional provision or law in the Standing Orders of Parliament that prevents a Deputy Speaker of Parliament from casting an original vote.
He said the Deputy Speaker could have a casting vote hence the confusion surrounding the issue was needless.
He was addressing the parliamentary press corps after the House suspended sitting indefinitely.
He alleged that the Minority prevented the Deputy Speaker from taking his seat and further inflicted a wound beneath the eyelid of the Sports Minister who is also an MP.
He further alleged that Speaker Alban Bagbin is holding Parliament at ransom.
He described the commotion in Parliament as a day of shame, adding parliament has not witnessed such bestiality in our parliamentary history.
