Are you now incompetent for sending Gabby to meet Mahama? Apaak to Prez

December 22, 2021

Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr. Clemenmt Apaak has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo for sending Gabby Otchere Darko to go and engage with former President John Dramani Mahama on the call by Ghanaians for the two major political parties to work together.

The legislator posited that it beats the mind of a government that described former President John Mahama as incompetent to go back to him and seek support.

In his view, the move by the President exposes the hypocrisy of the President and paints him as the incompetent one.

According to him, if he were to be Mr. Mahama, he would not have given the audience to GFabby Otchere Darko who represented the President.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has denied media reports that President consulted him on matters relating to the controversial E-Levy impasse.

In a statement, former President Mahama said he received Gabby Otchere Darko at his (Mahama) residence.

He indicated that the issues they discussed were not related to the impasse on the levy.

His statement read: ”President Akufo-Addo did not seek my intervention on the E-Levy impasse.

I received Mr. Gabby Otchere Darko, at his request, at my residence on Tuesday 21st December, 2021.

Among issues we discussed was the desire of Ghanaians to see the two major political parties working together for the interest of the nation.

We discussed, also, how dialogue can be deployed to ensure.

Parliamentary issues are agreed consensually before coming on the floor to avoid what happened recently in the House.

We further discussed opening channels of communication between the leaders of the two parties including a possible meeting with the President at a future date.

At no time was there any discussion specifically about the President requiring my intervention in the impasse on the E-levy.”

In his response, Dr. Apaak said Mr. Mahama must be a special being to have given an audience to Mr. Otchere Darko despite the vilification and attacks on him by the President.

He asserted that if the situation was the opposite President Akufo-Addo would not have granted audience to Mr. Mahama or his nephew.

”Folks, so Akufo-Addo sent his nephew, Gabby, to the man they have been calling incompetent? So now who is incompetent? JM is indeed a special human being. If I were him I would not have given audience to Gabby.

And if I may ask, is Gabby a government official, in what capacity did he go to see JM? JM God bless you for your tolerance. If it was the opposite I doubt if NADAA would have given JM’s cousin audience.”
