The Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Esiam, and the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has described the criminal charges brought against him by the Attorney General as a distraction.
According to him, he would not be distracted by the machinations of the government.
Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame has dragged the former Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and two others to court for allegedly causing financial loss of €2.37 million to the state.
The case surrounds a deal to purchase some 200 ambulances for the country between 2014 and 2016.
Dr. Forson, is in court with Sylvester Anemana, a former Chief Director of the Ministry of Health and Richard Jakpa, a businessman.
They are facing five counts of wilfully causing financial loss to the state, abetment to wilfully cause financial loss to the state, contravention of the public procurement act and intentionally misapplying public property.
But Mr. Forson says the government is engaging in machinations following his resolve to oppose what he described as repressive policies of the government.
He is set to respond to the issue tomorrow, Friday, December 24, 2021.
“My attention has been drawn to the widely circulated stories suggesting that the Akufo Addo government has brought criminal charges against me.
As I prepare to fully address the matter tomorrow at a press briefing I urge all right thinking members of our society to remain calm and note that I shall not be distracted by the machinations of the State just because I stand with the good people of Ghana to oppose repressive policies of this government!”
