The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement to remind prophets about the legal implications of their prophecies.
The statement reminded the prophets that fact that whereas we have the right to religion, freedom of worship, and free speech, all of these rights are subject to the respect for the rights and freedoms of others according to our laws.
The Police statement said it was unlawful for anyone to publish or reproduce a statement that is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or to disturb public peace.
It also cautioned the public to be reminded that it is criminal to use electronic and other communication services to send misleading information likely to prejudice the efficiency of life-saving service or endanger the safety of any person.
The Police warned such persons would be prosecuted.
