The National Identification Authority (NIA) has suspended Ghana card replacement services at it’s national headquarters.
A statement issued by the NIA it has suspended the services until January 17, 2022.
It has therefore asked applicants seeking to replace their misplaced Ghana cards to take note of the announcement.
Hundreds of people besieged the national headquarters of the NIA on Thursday, January 6, 2022, to either replace their cards or register for the Ghana card.
They complained of the stress they had to go through before having the opportune city to be served.
Some of them arrived at the office as early as 4 am to have their cards either replaced or registered for the card.
Others also claimed to have traveled from other regions to the headquarters just to retrieve their Ghana card.
This was to allow them to go through the SIM re-registration exercise which is expected to end in March this year.
