Parliament has re-adjourned it’s sitting which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, 2022 to Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
The House had adjourned sitting at their last sitting to January 18, 2022 when First Deputy Joseph Osei-Owusu, presided over the House.
However, the Public Affairs Directorate has issued a statement communication a new date.
“The Parliamentary Service wishes to inform all Honourable Members and Staff of Parliamentary Service that the Second Session of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic will commence on Tuesday, 25th January, 2022 at Ten O’clock in the forenoon at Parliament House, Accra.”
“All Honourable Members and Members of Staff are entreated to take note and attend upon the House respectively,” the statement said.
On December 21, 2021, the House adjourned sitting Sine Die without considering the Electronic Transaction Levy.
This cames after the House reconvened Tuesday, December 21, 2021, following the abrupt suspension of sittings by the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrews Asiamah, after a fight broke out during the voting on the E-levy on Monday December 20, 2021.
The House was expected to make progress following the clash between the Minority and Majority during voting on the floor of the House when the First Deputy Speaker took leave of the Speaker’s chair for the Second Deputy Speaker to enable him to participate in voting.
However, the situation turned chaotic with some members from both sides of the house exchanging blows.
