The Ghana Police has arrested a long vehicle driver for reckless and dangerous driving.
The driver was captured for engaging in a dangerous overtaking a truck on the Kwahu Fodoa road in the Eastern Region.
The driver has been identified as Awal Mohammed, 31.
The P[olice said it arrested the driver after the issue was brought to their attention after a Facebook user made a post about his conduct.
“The said driver was captured on video by a concerned citizen as he dangerously veered off his lane at a section of the road at Kwahu Foduah, and drove facing oncoming vehicles,” the police noted on Facebook.
A social media user posted on his Facebook page about the issue.
The Police reacted swiftly and arrested the driver.
It commended the social media user saying: “We wish to commend the good Samaritan for volunteering information leading to the arrest. We wish to further caution motorists to drive with due care and attention at all times to avoid road traffic crashes,” police said.
The driver has been charged with the following offences;
a. Driving on the wrong side of the road, contrary to Regulation 106 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulations (RTR) 2012 L.I 2180
b. Careless and inconsiderate driving contrary to section 3 of Act 683/04 as amended by 761/08.
C. Causing danger to other road users, contrary to section 22 of Act 683/04 as amended by 761/08 and
D. Causing road obstruction, contrary to Regulation 170 of the Road Traffic Regulation 2012, L.I 2180.
