The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has interdicted some officers over an alleged Ghc30,000.
A statement issued by the GNFS disclosed that a three-Man Committee of the Board of Enquiry has been set up to investigate the matter.
The GNFS statement said: “The accused officers involved have been interdicted and a three-Man Committee of Board of Enquiry has been formed by the Management of GNFS to investigate the alleged theft.
In the evening of December 21, 2021, a private subaru vehicle (4×4) crashed into a stationary vehicle resulting in the death of all occupants on the 4×4 vehicle. The Konongo Fire Station was called and they quickly responded to the incident. It later emerged that, money and some items belonging to the deceased were missing and the rescuers were accused of stealing the said items .
We want to state unequivocally and put it on record that, the GNFS does not condone wrong doing and will not, therefore, shield any criminal within the Service. We want to assure the general public that, any person(s) found culpable of the theft will be dealt with in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Service and handed over to the Police for prosecution,” the statement concluded.
