The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed the University Teachers Association (UTAG) to call off their strike and resume lecturing in the various public university.
NLC described the strike action by UTAG as illegal.
A statement issued by NLC explained that after hearing both UTAG and representatives from the government, it has concluded that UTAG failed to follow due process before striking.
It further stated that the reason for the strike action has already been settled.
The NLC noted that although UTAG may have new issues, they have not officially communicated that to the government.
For this reason, the NLC has directed UTAG to call off their strike with an immediate effect and resume work.
UTAG has also been asked to formally submit the other issues they have raised to the government for redress by February 16, 2022.
