The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has exceeded it target for last year (2021) by GH¢265.39 million.
According to the GRA, it collected GH¢57.32 billion in revenue in 2021, against the target of GH¢57.055 billion.
A statement issued by the GRA indicated that they were able to exceed their target by plugging the loopholes for tax avoidance by some multinationals in the extractive sector.
The statement further disclosed that the GRA deployed digital and specialised monitoring platforms for tax collection purposes and increased attention on sectors of the economy that showed growth.
It said the revenue collected by the GRA
GH¢265.39 million or 0.5 per cent above their target.
The actual collection came to GH₵57.32 billion
This performance represents a growth rate of 26.3% over the 2020 revenue
The GRA further stated that this is the highest annual growth in the last 10 years.
