The University of Ghana branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has refused to call off its strike action as directed by the National Labour Commission(NLC).
A statement issued by the branch’s Secretary and President Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr. Samuel Nkumbaan respectively slammed the NLC over their directive.
To them, the NLC evaded and frustrated the processes to serve them with notification from UTAG’s strike action.
For this reason, UTAG, Legon says they will not calm off their strike action.
It added that the NLC has not been proactive in resolving the issues raised by UTAG against the government.
It said until their demands for better conditions of service are met, they will continue to be on strike.
Meanwhile, Legon UTAG has asked the National Executive of UTAG and the National Executive Committee to be proactive, resolute, and resilient in championing the fight for better conditions of service for members.
