The Takoradi Circuit Court A presided over by His Honor Michael Ampadu has granted the Sekondi Takoradi MCE Abdul Mumin Issah bail.
He granted the MCE bail in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Cedis with three sureties.
He was charged on three counts including assault of police officer, Offensive conduct, and disturbing the peace.
He has however pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
Presenting the facts of the car before the court,
Superintendent Emmanuel Basintale told the court that the accused person on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, and at about 8: 30pm was driving with top speed from the Takoradi direction to Kwesiminstim in Sekondi Takoradi and nearly knocked down a policeman on checkpoint duties at the Kwesiminstim Cemetery.
He also told the court that the suspect failed to observe all road traffic regulations.
When the officer approached him, he got offended and verbally abused the complaint Inspector Sarfo Andrews.
He was therefore arrested and subsequently charged with three counts.
Lawyer of the accused Samuel Agbota quoted in his submission prayed the court to granted him bail.
The judge agreed with the lawyer and granted the accused person bail.
He warned that his court will not be lenient with any person or group of persons who will interfere with the works of a police.
He warned that he will not allow anyone to discourage the country’s security agencies irrespective of their standing in society.
The accused person Abdul Mumin Issah is to reappear before the court on March 17.
