The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Sekondi-Takoradi Mr. Abdul-Mumin Issah has been suspended pending an inquiry into his alleged verbal assault of a Police Officer.
A statement issued by the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Dan Botwe said without prejudice to the matter now before the court government takes a very dim view of the comments made by the MCE during his exchange with the Police.
According to the statement, the comments by the MCE were contrary to the government’s belief of empowering the security agencies.
Meanwhile, the Takoradi Circuit Court A presided over by His Honor Michael Ampadu has granted the Sekondi Takoradi MCE Abdul Mumin Issah bail.
He granted the MCE bail in the sum of One Hundred Thousand Cedis with three sureties.
He was charged on three counts including assault of police officer, Offensive conduct, and disturbing the peace.
He has however pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
