The Coalition of Transport Operators has announced plans to increase transport fares by 30% effective next week.
The decision to increase transport fares is coming after a 16 member transport union met
on Thursday, February 3, 2022, in Accra over concerns about the hikes in fuel prices.
The union includes Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU), Concerned Drivers Association, Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA), amongst others.
The union attribute the decision for the increase to hikes in fuel prices.
Meanwhile, the union says it will meet with the Ministry of Transport over the expected increment on Monday, February 7, 2022.
