The Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey has today, Monday 7th February 2022, led a delegation from the Regional Coordinating Council to commiserate with the family of Hon. Ishmael Ashitey at his residence in Tema.
He was joined by the Regional Chief Director with other senior Directors, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives, and Coordinating Directors in the region.
Hon. Ishmael Ashitey passed after a short illness on the 7th of January 2022.
He served in various capacities in government as the first Minister for Fisheries; also in the Ministries of Food & Agriculture, and Trade, Industry & President’s Special Initiatives under the leadership of H.E John Agyekum Kufour.
He also served as 3-Term Member of Parliament for the Tema East Constituency, and for 2-Terms as Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the ruling NPP.
Before his passing, he was the immediate past Greater Accra Regional Minister under the President Akufo-Addo administration.
The Minister extended his condolence to the family and assured them of the involvement of the Regional Coordinating Council in the final funeral rites in honour of the memory of my predecessor.
