The Member of Parliament for Bongo constituency Edward Bawa is seeking clarity why students who completed Pantang Nursing training since the year 2018 still owes school fees.
He was demanding answers at the Public Account Committee sitting today, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, where the committee is considering the report of the Auditor General on Ministries Department and Agencies for the year 2018.
Appearing before the committee today is the ministry of health.
The Principal of the school, Madam Mercy Adzo Kporku answering the question stated that the amount of Gh¢39, 735.00 was the total sum of money owed by some of the students.
But the school authorities have been able to retrieve the larger part of the money from the students.
She said it was left with the amount of Gh¢ 2,810.00 yet to be retrieved.
She indicated even though students were owing to the school, they were not denied from partaking in their final exams, so most of them left without settling their debts in the school.
”So the only means the school is using to retrieve their money is to wait for students to pay their arrears before their results are given to them.”
She said some o9f the students were yet to come for their results hence the reason why the school has not been able to retrieve the debt from them.
The committee urged the principal to try as much as she could to retrieve the rest of the money.
