The Kwahu Afram Plains South District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Kyei Ntiri, has stated that the area would become a world on its own after the bridge over the Afram Plains is constructed.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he expressed gratitude to the government and parliament for the approval of the project.
He disclosed the approval of the project brought joy among the residents.
He said “from children to women and men, my residents shouted with joy after they heard parliament had approved the contribution of the bridge over the Afram Plains”.
To him, the project which was yet to be started is already bringing in several business opportunities in the area and the community is prepared to receive new businesses.
He said “we are grateful to President Akufo-Addo and his government for what they have done for us. After the project, Afram Plains would become a world on its own. It has already paved way for businesses to come to the area and we are extremely happy about that”.
He noted the Afram Plains is the food basket of the country and the construction of the bridge is a step in the right direction.
He further argued that the Afram Plains District has tremendous potential to contribute significantly to the improvement of the well-being of its inhabitants and the project will contribute to that.
He added the project would also enhance productivity in the Agriculture sector of the Afram Plains.
He said trading activities in the area will improve the lives of the people, create jobs, and for that, we are grateful to this government.
Parliament has approved an amount of Three Hundred and Fifty Million Euros (€350,000,000.00) for the construction of a bridge over the Afram River.
The amount would also cover the construction of 124Km of roads from Adawso-Bunso, Ekye – Amanfrom and other specified roads within the Afram areas.
