A police officer has allegedly shot a 24-year-old man at Lamashegu, Tamale in the Northern Region.
The man was allegedly chased to the Lamashegu Chief’s Palace where he was shot by the officer.
The victim according to details available indicates that he (victim) refused to stop when he was ordered to do so.
The incident, occurred on Sunday afternoon [February 13, 2022].
Some youth in the area got angry pelted stones at the police patrol team who had come to the scene to restore calm.
The injured young man is currently said to be receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
Meanwhile, there is a joint police and military presence in the area to prevent an escalation of the violence.
Assembly Member for Lamakara, Abubakari Fuseini narrated the incident to Citi News.
Chief Superintendent, George Yeboah Afari, the Commander, has revealed that the police officer who allegedly fired the shot has been taken to the Regional Police Headquarters for questioning.
