The Northern Regional Police Command has commenced investigation into a shooting incident that occurred today 13th February 2022 at about 1300hrs at Lamashegu.
The Police is also investigating a subsequent attack on the police by the youth of the community.
The Police has further called on members of the Lamashegu community to remain calm and assist police investigation into the matter.
It said a full statement on the incident will be issued in due course.
One person has been confirmed dead in the clash between the police and the youth of Lamashegu.
Seven other persons have also sustained various degrees of injuries during the riot.
The disturbance is reported to have occurred when a young man who was being pursued by the police dashed into the Lamashe-Naa’s palace to avoid being apprehended by the Police.
According to reports, the young man refused to stop when he was ordered to do so by the Police.
