Road accidents: Gov’t awards contracts for the construction of 4 bypasses at a cost of Ghc2 billion

The Chairman of the Roads and Transport Committee of Parliament Kennedy Osei Nyarko has disclosed that the government have signed eight different contracts with eight construction companies for the construction of four (4) bypasses.

The bypasses would be constructed at sone locations on the Accra – Kumasi Highway as part of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government’s commitment in dualizing all our major Highways in the country.

Addressing the press in parliament, he stated that this decision by government as a result if the numerous accidents on our roads especially on the Accra-Kumasi road.

The location a for the project he disclosed are
Osino Bypass 11.6km, Anyinam Bypass 6.1km, Enyiresi Bypass 10.6km and Konogo Bypass 13.5km.

The above projects will cost the taxpayer GHc2 billion, he explained.

He said work on these projects will commence earnestly in the first week of April, 2022.

The following Ghanaian companies will be executing the above projects;

  1. First Sky limited
  2. Jushmoh Construction
  3. Nag Fairmount company limited
  4. Hardwick Limited
  5. Resource Access Limited
  6. Kofi Job Company Limited
  7. Joshob Construction
  8. Memphis Metropolitan

He told the journalists that these projects when completed will ease the traffic congestion on the Kumasi road, minimize the fatalities on that stretch and also reduce drastically the traveling hours on that route.
