Former President John Dramani Mahama has held a meeting with the new executives of the Northern Development Forum (NDF).
He used the opportunity to convey his appreciation to the Forum for their integral role towards the development of the country, particularly the north.
He also emphasised during the discussions that governments have a responsibility to spread development across every part of the country, so that the people can take advantage of the prevailing opportunities wherever they find themselves.
The meeting also gave then an opportunity to discuss the terror-related activities in the Sahel of which the northern parts of Ghana serve as a buffer.
He said there is, of course, the need for extra vigilance so that the area does not become recruitment grounds for such dissidents intent on destabilising the West African sub-region.
