The staff of GTP, Tema are demonstrating over what they have described as poor conduct and conflict of interest activities of the Managing Director of the company, Fatoumata Doro.
The workers have accused the managing director Fatoumata Doro of being a native of Niger who has been sent to the facility to run affairs of the textile manufacturing company.
According to them, work activities had never been the same ever since she was appointed.
The workers further alleged that the managing director is engaging in activities which are contrary to the labour laws of Ghana.
They refused to work and rather played football at the forecourt of the company before they were addressed by their leadership, today, Friday, February 24, 2022.
The workers maintained the management of the company should be reserved for Ghanaians and not foreigners.
They expect that the government will intervene following petitions and appeals they have sent to some institutions of the state.
Morgan Ayawine, General Secretary ICU, who addressed the workers said they must all help in protecting the company since it remains one of the only textile factories owned by the state.
