Residents of Ntobroso in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region have expressed disappointment in the burning of excavators by the operation halt team which led to the burning down of some four houses.
The residents are alleging that the soldiers claimed there were sent to the community to do whatever they want by the President.
They also alleged that the excavators that were burnt were not being used for illegal mining and had been parked for over a year now.
It is therefore strange to them that the soldiers were deployed to the community to cause havoc.
The residents also disclosed preparations for a departed chief in the area had been affected.
Visitors and items bought and meant for the funeral of the said chief they added were destroyed in the fire.
Dozens of military officers had to flee for their lives following a clash with residents of Ntobroso in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The military personnel, numbering over twelve allegedly stormed the community Wednesday morning and burnt some excavators which were stationed in the community.
The soldiers while burning the excavators torched some nearby structures.
The situation infuriated the residents who engaged the soldiers in a fight flowing which the soldiers had to flee.
