The Methodist Church Ghana has reacted to the viral video in which Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium confronted one if their former bishops and questioned why he and some other men of God had kept quiet over some issues confronting the country.
In the video, the popular political activist had a conversation with its immediate past Presiding Bishop, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, Appiah Stadium called the former Chairman of National Peace Council, and later calling him hypocrite for not commenting on the current conditions under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
But in a public notice on Saturday, February 26, the Methodist Church Ghana said the video was recorded without the “knowledge” and “consent” of its former head.
“[The video] seeks to discredit the hard-won reputation of the eminent cleric and to create disaffection for him and members of the Clergy.
“We wish to encourage all and sundry to disregard the said video and its content.”
The notice added that the Church “stays unaligned to any political party and will comment on national issues as a stakeholder in the development of our nation Ghana”.
