The Majority leader of the Majority group in parliament, Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has disclosed that the MP for Dome-Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Safo informed him of her inability to attend sitting because one of her children was not well.
Speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the legislator said the circumstances she was faced with prevented her from attending sitting because there was no one to care for the sick child.
According to the Majority Leader, the MP has written to the house seeking further leave so she could care for the child until the child has recovered.
The leader said that is what he knows concerning the MP who has been slammed and accessed of holding parliament to ransom.
When asked if he was aware of the allegations of her demand to be given the position as deputy majority leader, he said the MP has not officially discussed something like that with him so he could not talk about it.
He added that he has also heard from the grapevine that the MP had had such a discussion with someone but he cannot confirm it.
The leader further revealed that per the letter she wrote to the speaker and copied to him, the MP in America at the moment.
He said the MP has written to the speaker of parliament that she needs additional four weeks to break from parliament to enable her to take care of her child undergoing therapy in the USA.
As to whether the speaker will grant her request or not is yet to be determined, he added.
