Former deputy general secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has declared that he would no longer entertain false accusations against him especially involving murder.
The former communications director at the presidency under the late President John Evans Atta-Mills said he has been vilified, insulted, hated, and accused of murder and that was the last straw for him.
He wondered why any sane person would accuse him of murdering his mentor and a man he was loyal to.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he disclosed that to preserve his name, reputation, and integrity both locally and on the global scale, he has resorted to the law court to defend his name.
He stated that as a man of integrity, his reputation has been damaged and he is on a mission to seek redress and have those who accused him dealt with in accordance with the laws of Ghana.
Koku Anyidoho has sued Accra Fm’s broadcast journalist Bobie Ansah and one other person, J.M Ba Kwadwo for alleging that he had a hand in the death of late President John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills.
In his statement of claim, the former deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said the first defendant J.M Ba Kwadwo on February 7, 2022, uttered certain statements on his YouTube page casting serious defamatory statements against him.
He also stated that the 1st defendant further accused him of making attempts on the life of former President John Dramani Mahama by sending his pictures to shrines to cause his premature death.
Mr. Anyidoho has also declared that the 1st defendant made a categorical statement that he (Anyidoho) stole a briefcase belonging to the late president which contained large amounts of dollars.
He averred that the 2nd defendant widely circulated and distributed the video clip of the 1st defendant nationwide and it included but was not limited to Pendream Television a private station without adverting his mind to the veracity or otherwise of the statement.
He said the statements by the defendants painted him (Anyidoho) as a dishonest and unreliable person.
He added that the defendants made the comments out of malicious intent and made no efforts to fact-check the claims.
According to him, the statements from the defendants have lowered his reputation in the eyes of well-meaning Ghanaians, brought his hard-won reputation into hatred, ridicule, obloquy, discredit, contempt, vilification, reproach, and caused him great distress and trauma.
He averred that unless the defendants are restrained, they will continue to make defamatory statements against him.
He is therefore demanding Ghc1 million, from the 1st defendant for his video on Youtube, and the same amount from the 2nd defendant for the distribution of the said video.
He is also seeking aggravated damages for the alleged reckless and malicious comments made and distributed by the defendants, compensatory damages done to his reputation, and a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from uttering and distributing any further defamatory material about him and any other relief the court may deem fit.
