An additional 54 Ghanaian nationals in Ukraine have arrived home from Romania, where they sheltered.
They arrived today, Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Kotoka International Airport.
The first batch of Ghanaians arrived in Ghana on March 1, 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
Despite the efforts to bring Ghanaians home from Ukraine, some 15 persons have refused to come home, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, has revealed.
He said their tickets to return home have been secured but they are unwilling to come home.
“The unfortunate thing is a large number of them who were originally scheduled to have travelled this evening and arrived tomorrow have decided that they were not coming. About fifteen of them have decided that they were not taking advantage”, he revealed.
He also added that, the students communicated their decision to stay on Thursday, March 3, 2021; after government had paid for their tickets.
