NPP members who painted Fomena party office in NDC colours will be expelled-John Boadu

March 10, 2022

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has stated that the party has commissioned internal investigative processes in respect of the Fomena disturbances.

The chief scribe warned all persons found culpable shall be disciplined per the party’s regulations.

According to him, in the specific case of the disturbances witnessed at Fomena including the painting of the Party Office with NDC colours, the party takes a serious view of the gross misconduct which is not only reprehensible but an affront to the very dignity and existence of the elephant family.

“So the Party is taking immediate steps to expel all the persons behind this ungodly act from the party, of course, through due process.”

Speaking at the party’s headquarters in an interaction with the media on Thursday, March 10, 2022, Mr. John Boadu stressed that the point must be made that the party has not yet decided on the modalities for holding polling station primaries in Fomena and the other 9 constituencies where polling station primaries were suspended owing to one reason or another.

He added, in Fomena, the party is yet to take a decision on the date of opening nomination, date of vetting, date of publication of vetting results, and date of holding the polling station elections in that constituency.

The party certainly did not and could not have sent Nomination Forms to Fomena for the conduct of the elections, let alone, to have handed over all such Forms to the Independent Member of Parliament, as alleged, which then erroneously formed the basis for the disturbances witnessed at the Constituency including the painting of the Party office with NDC colours,” he added.

Backround

Some aggrieved party members of the party in Fomena over the weekend painted the party’s office in NDC colours.

Several of them demonstrated against the party’s leadership and threatened to defect to the opposition NDC over alleged preferential treatment of persons linked to the Independent MP for the area, Andrew Amoako Asiamah.

The aggrieved members painted the party’s office with the red, green, and black colours of the opposition NDC as a protest against any attempt to impose the Independent MP, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, on them.

They claimed it would ve disrespectful on their part if the party executives recall the Fomena MP, after his show of ingratitude during the 2020 elections.

The office was later repainted to its original colours of the NPP.
