The Ministry of Finance would be disconnected by the Electricity Company of Ghana following its indebtedness to the power provider.
According to the ECG, the Ministry of Finance is indebted to the company to tune of GHc 421, 038.02.
The leader of the task force embarking on the disconnection exercise, Larbi Siaw Stephens disclosed that ECG is embarking on a nationwide disconnection exercise of facilities and individuals indebted to the company.
Other institutions to be disconnected include the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Communications, and Digitization among others.
The ECG on Monday, March 14, 2022, cut power supply to Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) over power debt.
The KIA is alleged to be owing ECG a total of about GHS49 million.
The disconnection exercise was carried out by the national task force of the ECG.
Mr. Larbi Siaw Stephens, said the Accra Sports Stadium and La Palm were disconnected today as part of efforts to reduce the debts of the company.
He disclosed that the national stadium owed ECG GH¢587,087.37 and La Palm owed the national electricity provider GH¢196,073.62
He said the GACL which was disconnected yesterday currently owes ECG GH¢48,985,505.41 after paying GH¢1million.
