The Family of the late Nii Oshipie Joshua Lartey who was allegedly murdered on March y, 2022 has called on President Akufo-Addo to intervene in the matter.
The family is alleging that their lives are under threat as the persons who orchestrated the murder of their brother and relative are threatening to kill them.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, Emmanuel Nii Awuley, one of the family heads said the Police have arrested six suspects who are currently in custody.
He commended the IGP and the Police Service for the swift response to the matter.
But stressed the need for the security agencies to take steps in preventing any form of attacks against them.
He asked the Police to do things in accordance with the law so the persons behind the death of their brother to be brought to book.

He urged the family and persons associated with the deceased person to exercise restraint and allow the Police to investigate and deal with the matter.
“The Police has so far picked up six(6) suspects who are believed to be involved in this unfortunate incident. The said suspects who are in the custody of the Police were remanded by the District Magistrate Court, Adjabeng on the 10th March, 2022.
They are to reappear in Court on 23rd March, 2022. At this juncture we the Akwanor Royal family of Ashalaja wish to express our sincere appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, the Greater Accra Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service the Divisional Commander of the Amasaman Police Station, the District Commander of the Amasaman and the entire Police force for their swift response when the incident occurred and the investigation so far conducted in connection with this unfortunate incident.
Indeed we are saddened by the death of NII OSHIPPI a vibrant and energetic of this family, may his soul rest in peace.
We are by this press conference appealing to all and sundry to volunteer and give to the Police if they so have any information concerning the death of NII OSHIPIE to enable the police to unravel this unfortunate incident.”

He appealed to all and sundry to give the Police credible information to assist them with their investigation.

We also entreat all members of this family to remain calm as the Police conduct their investigation into the matter. We the Akwanor Royal Family believe in the work the Police are doing.
We also believe in the Court system and it is our humble prayer that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will successfully be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.”
On his part the Dzaasetse, Jonathan Mintah Ackaa alleged that they have been threatened by the suspects and their assigns.
He claimed they keep making calls although they are in Police custody.
The suspects although in custody are sending threats to us. We are appealing to the President to intervene. He has to protect us and ensure we do not lose another life. We do not want to die and that is why we are appealing to him to intervene.”
Background
The Oshippi of Ashalaja in the Greater Accra Region, Joshua Lartey was murdered on March 6, 2022.
He was shot dead around 3 junction near Amasaman in his car by unknown gunmen.
According to Mr. Emmanuel Mintah Aful, Joseph Lartey and other family members allegedly received several threat messages from some group of young men belonging to the destooled Chief.
He alleged that a motorbike that the assailants used to execute the operation in the evening was spotted at the residents of the destool Ashalaja Chief, known as Nii Obeney during a meeting in the afternoon making them suspect a foul play within the camp of the destooled Chief.
Police arrest
The Accra Regional Police Command on March 7, 2022, arrested one suspect while pursuing five other suspects for the murder of a 42-year-old man identified as Joshua Lartey, the Oshipi of Ashalaja at Achiaman, near Amasaman yesterday, Sunday, March 6, 2022.
The suspects Rashid Mohammed aka Gizzo, Brown Amoah Akwanor, Nii Obene, Ayittey Anime alias Asa Brother and Mushe Akwanor allegedly killed the chief.
The Police acting on intelligence proceeded to the House of one of the suspects Rashid Mohammed at Sowutuom where they retrieved two pump action guns, one G3 weapon, one revolver, and one cap gun from a locked room in his absence.
