Ghanaian retired footballer Stephen Appiah has denied claims by Abena Korkor he had a sexual affair with her.
The former footballer in a statement said his attention was drawn to the claims which went viral on social media.
He indicated the allegation is not only baseless, unfounded but also mischievous and fanciful conjectures by Abena Korkor.
He added that he would not have responded to the claim but it touches on his hard-won reputation both home and abroad.
He has therefore asked his family, friends and well-wishers to disregard the claim and treat it with contempt.
