About 234 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin South constituency of the Central Region, have joined the opposition l National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This defection according to the members was triggered by the fact that the ruling government failed and disappointed them in all ways including lack of development in the constituency for years of working hard to bring the party into power.
According to them, they were also denied access to pick forms to contest in the just ended polling station elections hence their decision to boycott the NPP party.
Some of the aggrieved members who have defected are top executive members in the constituency like the Nsuta NPP women organizer, Cecilia Tenkorang, Dadiasoaba NPP former Youth organizer, Asare popularly known as Figo among others.
To show their seriousness of defecting to the NDC, they set the flags of the NPP and an elephant sculpture ablaze.
They have promised to work hard to bring former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC into power in the coming election to eradicate to help eradicate what they described as hardship and suffering the current NPP administration is taking them through.
