A pregnant woman who had rushed to the National Identification Authority (NIA) Office in Accra for the ongoing registration of the Ghana Card, has collapsed.
The woman joined several others to either retrieve their cards, replace misplaced ones or register for the card as new applicants.
An eyewitness who identified as Ishmael disclosed that the woman was pushed and fell in the struggle to secure a place at the headquarters.
He explained that the pregnant was rushed to the hospital for medical care.
He described the process as stressful and has asked the NIA to adopt new measures in registering people for the Ghana.
He said “the stressful nature of the registration is not encouraging. I appeal to the NIA to adpt new ways for the registration.
The mad rush for the Ghana card follows the decision by the Communications Ministry for mobile phone subscribers to re-register their SIM cards, with the Ghana Card as the only recognised identification card for the exercise.
