Prez signs E-Levy bill into law, two days after its passage

President Nana Akufo-Addo, has signed into law the Electronic Transfer Levy Bill also known as the E-levy.

This comes just two days after it was passed by one sided parliament.

Per this action, the E-Levy bill has become effective and would bee implemented.

This comes barely a day after some three members of the Minority NDC in Parliament filed a suit at the Supreme Court to challenge the passage of the levy.

It is their argument that the house lacked the numbers to pass the bill into law.

Parliament passed the bill on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in the absence of the Minority MPs.

The Minority had staged a walkout stating that the el3vy was insensitive and regressive.

The levy was amended from 1.75 percent to 1.5 percent on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

The charge will apply to electronic transactions that are more than GH¢100 on a daily basis.
