Private legal practitioner lawyer Takyi Antiedu, has opined that until the final determination of the motion seeking to stop James Gyakye Quayson from holding himself out as the Member of Parliament for Assin North by the apex court, he still remains the validly elected MP
The lawyer says no one can stop the legislator from holding himself as MP for the constituency until the matter has been determined.
He was speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm on the ongoing case involving the MP.
The Supreme Court has set Wednesday, April 13, 2022, to rule on the motion seeking to stop James Gyakye Quayson from holding himself out as the Member of Parliament for Assin North.
The Court will, on Wednesday, thus pronounce to remove Mr. James Gyakye Quayson as Assin North Member of Parliament, or not, or to direct the applicants to execute the High court Judgment against Mr. James Gyakye Quayson.
Justices Jones Dotse, as Court President, Agnes Dordzie, Nene Amegatcher, Prof. Henrietta Mensah Bonsu, Mariama Owusu, Gertrude Torkornoo, and Emmanuel Yonny Kulendiare the ones sitting in the matter.
Some individuals have asked that the MP stop holding himself as MP but the lawyer disagrees saying the MP remains the validly elected MP until the final determination of the ongoing court case.
According to him, the MP can participate in all parliamentary proceedings and hold himself as MP.
He said he is entitled to all rights of MPS and until the case has been determined, he is still the MP.
