The Principal of the Dworwulu Special School for the Intellectually challenged, Mr. Fredrick Tetteh has hinted at plans by the school to introduce new courses at the school in addition to existing ones.
Currently, the school trains the students at the school in bead-making, catering, car washing, and laundry.
He explained that the students do not write the BECE or WASSCE, hence the skills training prepares them to be self-employed and independent-minded.
He said one new course the school intends to introduce in the school is shoemaking.
The Principal stated that the Dzorwulu Special School is a fully-funded government institution established by the Society of Friends for the Mentally Handicapped in 1970.
The school teaches and trains children with intellectual disabilities to become functional and independent in society.
He made the remarks when Ghanaian gospel musician Evangelist Diana Asamoah donated assorted items to the school on April 5, 2022.
Mr. Tetteh, who received the items, commended the musician for the kind gesture.
He called on other benevolent organizations, corporate bodies, and institutions to emulate the example of the musician and support a worthy cause.
He said the government alone would not be able to care for the needs of the students at the school hence the need for other benevolent organizations to support the school.
