Controversial marriage counsellor Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, popularly known as Counsellor Lutterodt, has advised women not to depend on their pastors, prayer warriors or any other person when facing abuse in their marriages.
The man of God says the best option is to walk away to stay alive.
Appearing on the mid-morning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he advised that an abuser in a marriage has no intention to change and the partner especially the woman who is being abused must walk away.
Counsellor Lutterodt told host Sokoohemaa Kukua that the patience we need to marry is not there and some individuals end up in bad marriages.
He explained that the bible makes provisions for divorce and there is no scripture from Genesis to Revelations that controls the laws of marriage in Ghana and the same thing applies to Mohamedan and traditional marriages.
He said ”nobody has the right to abuse another person and any such practices are criminal”.
He further described as stupid claims by people that marriages will collapse should abuses be reported to the Police.
He added that ”anytime there is a marital conflict the first person you don’t talk to is the pastor”.
He indicated that the first person to talk to is your counsellor and not the pastor.
He stressed the need for women to report abusers so they are arrested and prosecuted.
