The Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr. Clement Apaak has opined that “we do not need the Economic Intelligence Unit” to tell us that the National Democratic Congress will win the 2024 presidential elections.
The lawmaker stated that when he started making these assertions the EIU had not issued its report.
Dr. Apaak noted that it is obvious that the NDC will win the elections and there is no doubt about that.
He said “the NDC will continue to work hard and remain committed to representing the people of Ghana”.
He further disputed claims that the report had suggested that the NDC presents a fresh candidate if they want to win the polls.
He added that it was also obvious that the NDC is the only party that is a better manager of the economy based on their record.
Dr. Apaak went on to state that the 2020 polls results were not the true reflection of what Ghanaians voted for.
He said the NDC expected a minimum of 143 seats in the House but that could not materialize due to some machinations.
The MP wondered why the EC Chairperson announced different results for the polls, a situation he noted was terrible.
To him, “Mr. Mahama did so well in the elections hence it would be politically unwise for the party to change Mr. Mahama considering his performance in the 2020 elections”.
He maintained that “given John Mahama’s record, and given his performance in the 2020 elections, he is the best candidate going into 2024. If we want to prevent the NPP from breaking the 8, our only tested and the trusted antidote is John Dramani Mahama. That is my opinion. Others can contest, but in my opinion, John Mahama is the best candidate for us. Competition is allowed. John Mahama is not opposed to people contesting him. If there are people who have expressed interest, they can contest. But my interest is for John Dramani Mahama to be elected as a candidate because he is the only one to bring us victory,” he added.
