Neutrality allowance senseless, fraud, scrap it now- NPP group to Prez

The Founder of Patriot Ghan, a group associated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwesi Korang, has asked President Akufo-Addo to with immediate effect scrap the neutrality allowance it agreed to pay members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG).

He said the neutrality allowance is senseless, politically unwise, shameful and disgusting.

He disclosed that he became sick after hearing that the government agreed to pay the neutrality allowance.

He also wondered why senior political leaders governing the country would agree to such a shameful request.

CLOGSAG laid down their tools on Thursday, April 21, 2022, following the inability of the government to pay the allowance as agreed upon in January this year.

The association has already indicated that they will call off the strike on the condition that government commits to pay them the allowances due to them.

The neutrality allowance is to ensure that civil and local government workers do not engage in partisanship while conducting their affairs when they are in their various offices.

CLOSAG said it was agreed that they would be paid the allowance to ensure that they discharge their duties professionally without getting involved in partisan activities.

But Mr. Korang described the move as unfortunate and an insult to Ghanaians.

”I became sick when I heard of this news. I became sick because of the people who sat in the meeting where this shameful thing was approved. I am disappointed, and I am appealing to President Akufo-Addo to scrap it with immediate effect.

The neutrality allowance is senseless and disgusting. If you are demanding neutrality allowance before you become neutral then why do you want to work in the civil service?”
