The overlord of the Dormaa Traditional Area and the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyeman Badu II, has vehemently opposed the enstoolment of the chief of Asumegya in the Ashanti region by Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II.
The action he describes as illegitimate and must be corrected at all costs because the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II does not have the authority to install such a chief.
The Dormaahene was speaking at the enstoolment of Dompimhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area at Abanpredease Palace in Dormaa Ahenkro.
It would be recalled that, on the 24th of March 2022, during the hearing and verdict of the Asanteman Council, Otumfour Osei Tutu ll chose Yaw Okyere, now Nana Okyere Kusi Aduoko II occupy the throne despite the fact that he is not a royal.
Nana Yaw Okyere, now Nana Okyere Kusi Aduoko ll, reportedly told the residents during his first durbar that he was going to use small scale mining (galamsey) to develop the community.
The concerned youth of Essumeja is therefore calling on all opinion leaders to get involved in this matter to help apprehend this issue before it escalates.
Essumeja is a farming community, and we deem it necessary to protect our lands and water bodies for future generations.
According to Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyeman Badu II, the enstoolment of the Asumegyahene is a deliberate attempt by the Asantehene to thwart the history of the Dormaa kingdom as well as claiming what belongs to them.
Osagyefo Agyeman Badu has therefore declared the enstoolment of the Asumegyahene as null and void and emphasized that Dormaa will not sit aloof and lose what is theirs.
The Dormaa Omanhene called on Mamponghene and the queen mother of the Ashanti kingdom to advise the King to do what was right.
