Head of Project Management at the Ghana Revenue Authority and Member of the E-Levy Technical Committee, Isaac Kobina Amoako, has confirmed that several individuals who were wrongfully deducted when the implementation of the levy started have received their refund.
He said some 120,000 Ghanaians had received their refund.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he disclosed that the refund is in excess of Ghc100,000.
He said ”we have refunded over Ghc100,000 of unintended deductions from the E-Levy. Some 120,000 persons have received their refund because they were wrongfully deducted”.
Isaac Kobina Amoako, had admitted the challenges facing the implementation and assured all consumers of a refund after the completion of the probe by his outfit.
He had also stated that the authority received feedback from some charging entities, including the banks and telecom companies, but a daily report will be run on all transactions to see the way forward.
He stressed the levy had come to stay, and the GRA was committed to ensuring that all the myths, surrounding the levy were dispelled.
