The Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng has charged Municipal Chief Executive aspirant for Juaben, Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka with twenty-six counts of corruption.
The charges are in relation to public elections.
The embattled officer was seen in a viral video in which he admitted to giving money to assembly members to confirm him as MCE, but he failed to garner the required numbers.
He then demanded the monies he allegedly paid to the assembly members.
The writ filed at a Kumasi High Court stated that the accused influenced the conduct of about twenty-six Assembly Members who are members of the Juaben Municipal Assembly.
He is alleged to have given them an amount of GH5,000 during an election to confirm his nomination in September last year.
The accused is expected to appear before a Kumasi Court on June 1, 2022, to answer the charges of corruption contrary to Section 256(1) and (2) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) as amended by Section 9 of the Criminal Offences (Amendment) Act, 2020.
