The Minority in Parliament has called for an inquiry into the declassification of the Achimota Forest Reserve.
Leader of the Caucus Haruna Iddrisu, noted that the issue must be treated as an urgent matter.
He made the call when Parliament resumed sitting today, Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
The Minority leader commenting on the matter maintained that without any hesitation the issue must be addressed and the President of the republic should open a public inquiry into the declassification of the Achimota lands.
He insisted that Ghanaians must know who got what and how much they got.
He opined that the House need to appreciate that the reliance on Executive Instrument 144, the Forest Act of 1927, is an outdated law.
Let me remind the President and leadership that he should go and look at the land and special planning Act 2021 (Act 926) to understand that the power to reclassify lands was not given to the President.
