Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has disclosed that the legislative body will soon put in place measures to ensure that MPs and staff comply with asset declaration laws.
Addressing members on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, when the House resumed sitting from recess, the Speaker stated that leadership would initiate discussions with relevant state actors to put in place measures and systems to ensure that MPs and staff of the House comply with the law.
He said all MPs and staff of Parliament would be required to comply with the asset declaration laws of Ghana.
He said it would be prudent for the MPs and staff of parliament to also comply with tax regulations.
The Speaker went on to state that all MPs and staff must also honour all outstanding issues of overpayments reported on by the Auditor-General from 2011-2008 and 2009-2016.
He concluded that this must be done without any further delay.
