I’ve got the evidence to nail the former PPA boss & his brother-in-law- Special Prosecutor

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng has disclosed that he has all the evidence to nail the former CEO of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng and his brother-in-law, Francis Kweku Arhen.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, after a court sitting, the OSP said “I have my firm conviction that we have every evidence to see the accused guilty.

“It is in respect of procurement breaches by the former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) and his brother-in-law, so that is what we are in court for today. Their pleas were taken, they pleaded not guilty, the court has given direction in terms of how the trial will proceed.”

The former PPA boss is facing 8 counts of using public office for-profit and nine counts of directly and indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage in the award of procurement contracts.

His brother-in-law Francis Kwaku Arhen, the brother-in-law of Adjenim Boateng Adjei, has been charged with one count of using public office for profit.

On their first appearance in court today, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, the two accused persons pleaded not guilty to 18 counts of use of public office for profit.

The two were admitted to a bail sum of GH¢5 million with 2 sureties each. The sureties are each to deposit their national IDs with the Court’s registry.

Mr. Agyenim Boateng has also been ordered to deposit his passport with the court until the final determination of the case.

Francis Kwaku Arhen, was allowed to retain his passport on compassionate grounds.
