We need courageous people to condemn the unhealthy declarations for Bawumia by party leaders- Kwesi Korang

June 8, 2022

Founder and Executive Director of Patriot Ghana a group affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Korang, has expressed worry over the decision by some national executives to declare their support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next presidential candidate for the elephant family.

The declaration he stated would not have been a problem, but for persons occupying leadership positions, it would amount to bias and unfairness in the process leading to the election of a presidential candidate for the NPP.

He described the declaration as paralysis affecting the NPP with no courageous persons to condemn it,

”Of late, some people in the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have come out to declare their support for the flag bearer candidacy of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

This would not have been a problem, but for the significant fact that many of these individuals occupy executive positions in the NPP, and can therefore engage in harmful activities towards candidates opposed to their choice.

However, there seems to be paralysis in the leadership of the NPP, with no one bold enough to condemn this unhealthy practice.

Rather, the wanton declarations for the Vice President are even reaching a crescendo. The recklessness amongst the top-notch of the party is becoming too much. Party leaders who should be neutral and ensure that a level playing field would exist for all the aspiring candidates.”

CERTAIN PEOPLE IN LEADERSHIP IN NPP SHOULD HAVE THE GOOD SENSE TO EXHIBIT NEUTRALITY

Of late, some people in the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have come out to declare their support for the flag bearer candidacy of Vice President Dr.

Party leaders who should be neutral and ensure that a level playing field would exist for all the aspiring candidates. Interestingly, they have rather taken sides.

The great question is they will they have the necessary courage to reprimand themselves for violating their own directives?

Sincerity and frankness are eluding the NPP. Few selfish individuals who would not constitute three percent of the total electorate in Ghana are on the mission to destroy the party.

There appears to be that the NPP has no leader with an authority to exercise and all the sycophants parading around and singing the praises of one of the candidates are causing great division among the rank and file and setting a very bad precedence. We will continue to speak against this open endorsement of one candidate over the others in clear violation against the ethics of party leadership.
