One person has allegedly been shot dead following a confrontation between two factions at an event in Kokrobite.
The incident occurred after two rival chiefs clashed in the area at an event to climax the lifting of the ban on noisemaking, a traditional activity preceding the Homowo festival.
Reporting from the area, Rainbow Radio’s Banahene Agyekum said the two rival chiefs claimed title to the stool and that they were both best in performing the rites to lift5 the ban.
The confrontation is said to have escalated leading to the firing of gunshots which allegedly led to the death of one person.
Further details revealed that one of the rival chiefs Nii Offei and elders met the Police and outlined the modalities for the ceremony.
But at the ceremony grounds, the other faction led by Nii Arde Nkpa arrived the grounds to perform the same rites.
Queemother Naa Akom Ayiley has alleged that the Police invited the two factions separately, a situation she described as unfortunate.
