The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has accused Marwako Fast Food Limited of obstructing the investigation into the alleged food poisoning that occurred at its East Legon branch.
The FDA in a statement alleged that the company unilaterally destroyed some of the food items whilst investigations were still ongoing.
It further stated that samples of drinks, food items, and other samples taken from the branch revealed a heavy microbial load which may be linked to food-borne disease reported.
Aside from these findings, the FDA has also established that there were poor storage practices.
Also, the FDA said the level of sanitation and hygiene in the food preparation areas was poor.
Given these findings, the FDA has instructed the company to put in the corrective and preventive actions by the company.
It further indicated that the FDA will monitor activities to ensure that the company complies with the directives issued.
