Ghana Police Service has assigned clinical psychologists to offer psychological support to students of the Islamic Senior High following the disturbances recorded in the School on Monday, June 14, 2022.
The Police in a statement said the situation in the school has been brought under control and calm restored.
It established through its probe that most of the students and police officers who sustained injuries have been treated and discharged.
The Police also established that the students hit the streets to demonstrate over frequent traffic accidents in front of the school.
It further said although nobody was hit by a bullet, the police handling of the situation was poor.
In view of this, the Police Service has removed
its Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, DCOP Kwasi Akomeah Apraku from his position.
DCOP Apraku has also been interdicted together with two other senior officers.
“It was further established that even though nobody was hit by a bullet, the Police handling of the incident was poor and fell short of our standard operating procedure on crowd control.”
